Melissa Smith - Sales Page, Email Sequence, and LinkedIn Posts

“I use very specific language and omit specific terminology. Juliet wrote great copy even with that in mind.“

Challenge: Needing copy to launch a course

Melissa Smith, The PVA, helps virtual assistants take their business to the next level — because you can’t do it all yourself!

She’s won endless awards and features for her work, created The Association of Virtual Assistants, and wrote the bestselling book Become a Successful Virtual Assistant.

She’s one of the coolest people I know, and she’s become a friend on my email list over the past few months!

When she was getting ready to launch a new course, Virtual Assistants In Charge: How to Set Your Prices for a Free & Flexible Life, she reached out for help with her sales page copy, email sequence, and LinkedIn posts to promote her course.

Solution: Outsourcing to a sales copywriter

“I had ZERO changes and/or suggestions in the sales page, email, and social media copy. That has never happened before!”

My first step in working with Melissa through the ICON framework was to get to know Melissa’s whole life story. You think I’m kidding — but Identity is the first part of the framework for a reason!

She completed the ICON Assessment and I got to know why supporting virtual assistants was so important to her on our kick off call. Understanding that virtual assistants want freedom and flexibility, but don’t know how to price to achieve that was clearly the primary message and mission for this course.

I also looked through Melissa’s VoC research to gain insight into what aspiring VAs were struggling with and what Melissa’s course would offer them.

In addition, Melissa took the time to share some specific stories with me, where I could pull out relatable anecdotes and stories.

From there, I created a Sales Success Guide to make sure we were aligned on messaging before creating the first draft. This is now a crucial step in my process, because it can save a lot of time up front ensuring we’re focusing on the right thing!

After nailing that down, I created a sales page, email sequence, and LinkedIn posts for Melissa’s launch.

I was thrilled when Melissa had ZERO edits on the sales page and email sequence!

Why I loved this project!

Other than nerding out over launch copy, I loved that Melissa has such a great heart for people! She shared that her theme song was”One Moment in Time” by Whitney Houston. I played it on repeat throughout the project, which made the entire process even more enjoyable!
